Dad's Adventure

Tonight's blog is presented by special guest blogger, Toler's mom, as Dad awoke at 5:30 am to prepare for a day of "Spacin' at the Basin" (aka, hitting the slopes at Arapahoe Basin) with local Denver friend and former co-worker Kendra.  What should have been about a 1 1/2 hour commute each way ended up being a 4 hour trip there, followed by 3 1/2 hours of skiing, followed by another 4 hour trip home.  Yes folks, Dad is tired.  The good news is that it snowed today (hence the long commute), so Dad was skiing above his boots in fresh powder.  Did I mention that this North Carolina girl has seen as much snow as she wants to see this winter?  Here's hoping to a mild March back home.

So what did Mom and Toler do today when dad was on the slopes?  Because he wants to be just like Dad, Toler requested that Mom dress him in his Skiing Owl suit.  Of course, Mom obliged.

When can I go skiing with Dad?
Toler also requested an upgrade to a window view in his new room.  Because he is so charming, his nurse Anne obliged.

Later, Mom taught Toler how to dress himself!

Piece of cake!
In between visits, Mom enjoyed some of her favorite reality TV shows without Dad around to complain about it!

Finally, the travel weary Dad returned, and just to show how much he missed Dad all day, Toler took a FULL bottle feed from Dad.  Toler was drinking for the first time from a "big boy" (aka non-NICU) bottle, and he loved it!  This is a great development for Mom and Dad, as some preemies reject many brands of bottles before selecting the right one.

So, we continue with the bottle feeds, and we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!  As Grandaddy Gerald would say, "we are in the short rows now."

Love,
Ski tired Steve, Carolina in My Mind Emily, and Hungry Boy Toler
